Nicole Rexwinkel is part of Southern California Edison’s Grid Technology Development team, where she has performed the testing and demonstration of new technology for substation protection, automation, and control. She has been the technical lead for SCE’s Virtual Substation Relay Proof of Concept Demonstration. As the technical lead for this project, Nicole has hands-on experience with testing and evaluating the performance of virtual protection relays in a lab environment This project produced recommendations for SCE’s next steps in moving towards virtualized substation protection. Nicole earned her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. Nicole is a licensed professional engineer in the state of California.
