Steve Van Horssen is an IT leader advancing next gen AMI technologies at SMUD, fostering greater energy efficiency and reliability for SMUD's customers. As IT Supervisor for AMI Technologies, he leads the team responsible for supporting SMUD’s advanced metering infrastructure, meter data management system, and related platforms critical to supporting the SMUD's grid and customer operations. Steve spearheaded the successful implementation of SMUD’s meter data management system and guided the transition to the innovative Meter Data Unification and Synchronization (MDUS) solution, enhancing data accuracy and operational agility. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Pacific and an MBA with an emphasis on Management Information Systems from California State University, Sacramento. He is a licensed professional engineer in California and a member of IEEE's Power and Energy Society and the Association of Computing Machinery. Outside of work, Steve enjoys reading widely, boating, cycling with his wife and staying connected with his two adult sons.
