Webinar: Mitigating Wildfires with Breakthrough Long-Term Retardants: Protecting Assets, Ignition Prevention, and Risk Management
Date & Time
Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Wes Bolsen
Description

Although utilities do not cause the majority of wildfires, when they are responsible, the fires have become some of the most damaging in our nation’s history. Utilities have paid over $20 Billion in damages across the Western United States in just the last few years. Over the next 2 years, the three largest utilities in the state of California alone have pledged to spend over $13 Billion as part of their wildfire mitigation plans. Long-Term retardants have been discussed as part of the solution to help utilities prevent ignitions from their infrastructure, as well as protect critical assets.

Perimeter Solutions Long-Term Retardants (LTR’s) such as PHOS CHEK FORTIFY® have been tested by the United States Forest Service and have been shown in independent university testing to help prevent wildfire ignitions for an entire fire season with only a single application. This could not only save utility companies from having to pay billions in losses from wildfires, but it will also help to reduce the number of Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) during periods of windy, dry weather as well as helping to protect their assets, customers, and firefighting personnel with an approaching fire.

Session Takeaways:

  • Learn how LTRs can successfully be incorporated into any successful utility Wildfire Mitigation Plan.
  • See how utilities have already utilized LTRs as part of their mitigation plans
  • Hear about how you can pilot the technology this fire season or participate as part of a supplemental project put forward by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
