The Center for Climate and Energy identifies climate change as a critical factor in the risk and extent of wildfires in the USA. In fact, from 1984 to 2015, the number of large fires in the West has doubled due to dry conditions and an abundance of forest fuels. Even more worrying is the prediction by the Journal of Wildland Fire that we face increased potential for extensive fires in neighboring states in the Southeast and Northwest—proven by the 2020 wildfires that occurred across California, Oregon, and Washington.
Join this discussion featuring SoCalGas, examining how the utility proactively manages risk and safety during wildfires. By modernizing event management processes, SoCalGas can leverage mobile workforce management and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) technologies and the data they produce to maintain assets, quickly assess the state of the network, monitor for damage, and safeguard crews responding to events unfolding in the field.
During this webinar we will discuss:
- How to use technologies limit damage and liability during wildfires
- How to provide a safe environment for workers and the community
- How to proactively prepare for emergencies and major events
