Helen Galluzzo - Eversource Energy, Human Resources Sr. Consultant, Leadership Development
Daniel Lewis - Eversource Principal Engineer
Electric utilities futures depend on an engineering workforce with new skill sets. A rapidly changing distribution grid, and the fact that not many academic institutions have robust programs to produce utility focused engineers, means that utilities must create their own training programs. Eversource Energy created an Engineering Development Program and successfully completed three cohorts. This multi-faceted program exposed the engineers to various engineering groups, provided technical training through carefully crafted classroom sessions, and allowed engineers to work on the latest challenges through capstone projects. Additional aspects of the program covered training in principles of leadership, and utility finance. In addition, the utility established a relationship with local universities to create opportunities for undergrad and graduate students to participate in projects pertaining to the latest challenges that the industry is facing. Learn how Eversource and Worcester Polytechnic Institute partnered to develop a masters program to train engineers.
