                                                    Alvaro 'Al' Padilla Jr. is the Senior Manager of the ComEd Renewable Energy Advanced Control & Telemetry Systems (REACTS) Program. He leads a multidisciplinary team focused on advancing grid reliability and performance through innovative control and telemetry solutions for renewable energy assets including solar, wind, and battery storage.
With over 20 years of experience in the electric utility and engineering sectors, Al’s work spans fiber network architecture, PLTE integration, and cross-domain engineering strategies that support ComEd’s clean energy transformation. He has led efforts to modernize grid infrastructure through the commissioning of next-generation substations, the development of structured emergent response protocols within substation engineering, and the optimization of forensic laboratory processes for material failure analysis. Recent project highlights include supporting the deployment of ComEd’s hybrid fiber and private LTE communications platform, which enables fault isolation, power quality management, and advanced analytics.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northern Illinois University and is actively involved in IEEE, SHPE, and the ComEd Latinx Leadership Council.
