                                                    Philip Johnston is a technical product lead in Electric Asset Knowledge Management at PG&E, where he oversees a portfolio of geospatial and remote sensing products that serves hundreds of internal users across PG&E’s Electric Operations. With a background spanning AI, data modeling, and enterprise SaaS, Philip brings a unique mix of technical fluency and digital product strategy to the utility sector.
Since joining PG&E, he has led the development and scale-up of data solutions for internal customers including Distribution Planning, Gas Strategy, Electric Engineering, and Grid Innovation. Prior to PG&E, Philip built AI-powered solutions for Hitachi and TDK at Mach49, and launched startups in internet tech and political risk.
He holds a PhD from Harvard University in Archaeology and is passionate about using advanced data tools to drive operational value, sustainability and resilience across the electric grid.
