James (Jim) Haw is a seasoned electrical engineer with over 36 years of diverse experience across the paper, plastics, electrical utility, and oil & gas industries. He joined IND in 2024 as Director of Technology Advocacy, where he is focused on raising awareness of IND’s Early Fault Detection system within the U.S. power transmission and distribution utilities sector.
Jim is recognized for his career in automation and for pioneering the groundbreaking concept of the “born digital” industrial facility. This innovative approach has earned him recognition, resulting in multiple published articles and acknowledgment from the International Society of Automation (ISA), which awarded him the 2023 Excellence in Technical Achievement Award. This prestigious honor was in recognition of his vision, creation, and implementation of the “Born Digital” concept at a new plastics recycling facility.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas. Additionally, Jim has made significant contributions to ISA, serving at the local, regional, and national levels.
In addition to his engineering background, Jim is a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
