Dave is an energy industry veteran and serves as Burns’ Director of Energy Services where he is responsible for strategy and business development. Since coming on board in 2013, Burns has become a recognized leader at the forefront of strategic electrification and decarbonization. The firm has unmatched experience designing and implementing advanced microgrids and resilient energy infrastructure for airports, campuses, fleets, transit agencies, hospitals, and utilities. Dave has been recently focused on electrifying public and commercial fleets using scalable, future-proofed, and resilient solutions to de-risk and accelerate the transition to zero-emissions transportation. Dave combines a background in economics, finance, planning and public policy with deep technical knowledge in energy efficiency, onsite power, microgrids, energy storage and renewable energy. A recognized expert, he has been a guest lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School of Business, Harvard, and Green Mountain College. Topics have ranged from energy resilience, microgrids, fleet electrification, and cogeneration. Dave also speaks regularly at industry conferences and has led or participated in several microgrid workshops.
