Chris Boyer is currently the general manager of Distribution at Georgia Power. In this position, Chris has responsibility for the construction, design and maintenance of the electrical distribution system in Metro Atlanta serving more than 1.3 million customers. In addition, he leads the company’s statewide distribution organization responsible for contractor management.
Prior to his current position, Chris served as the assistant to the senior vice president of Power Delivery at Georgia Power. In this role, Chris supported the executive office responsible for safety and health and the planning, design, operations, construction and maintenance of Georgia Power’s distribution and transmission systems.
Since joining Georgia Power in 1997 as an engineering co-op, Chris has held a number of leadership positions around the state in Distribution and Transmission, including engineering supervisor, transmission maintenance center supervisor and assistant to the vice president of Transmission. He also served in roles as the distribution manager in Metro Atlanta and Coastal Georgia.
Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the University of Georgia.
In the community, he is an active member of the Citizens of Georgia Power and a graduate of Leadership Morgan, Leadership Habersham and Leadership Savannah. Additionally, he volunteers for the American Cancer Society.
