Daniel serves as Senior Director of Resiliency Strategy at LUMA Energy, the electric grid operator serving 1.5 million customers in Puerto Rico, where he is responsible for the development of and execution of strategies to align electric grid investments with local and federal policies to improve the capabilities of Puerto Rico’s energy system to provide reliable and affordable energy in a manner that mitigates and adapts to existing and emerging challenges. Daniel also serves in leadership roles in the industry, including as the vice-chair of the Climate Change taskforce for IEEE Power and Energy Society and a member of the emerging technology long range planning committee for IEEE PES, and has published widely on topics including smart grid and smart cities.

Prior to joining LUMA, Daniel held roles in the industry including the senior manager for smart grid programs at ComEd, the electric utility serving Chicago and Northern Illinois, and manager of utility strategy at Accenture. Daniel completed his bachelors degree in history from Johns Hopkins University and his doctoral degree in political science at Brown University.
