Joseph Benzaquen received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar, Caracas, Venezuela, in 2011 and 2015, respectively; and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, USA, in 2020 with the Smart Power Electronics & Control Systems (SPECS). He is currently working as Chief Research Engineer with the Center for Distributed Energy at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA, where he initially joined in the Fall of 2020 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. His research interests lie in the intersection of power electronics and the grid focusing on decentralized control of grid-interactive power converters, and power electronics-based grid-enhancing technologies (GETs) for grid augmentation/dynamic support.
