Cobb EMC is an electric cooperative located in Marietta, Georgia serving nearly 200,000 residential and commercial members in Cobb, Bartow, Cherokee, Fulton, and Paulding counties. Cobb EMC is one of the largest EMCs in the nation, and the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Gas South is a leading provider of natural gas in the Southeast.

Cobb EMC is ranked # 1 one in the nation for providing the best reliable service as well as for restoring the outages quickly. Cobb EMC is also recognized for offering the lowest rates among all the utilities in Georgia.

In September 2022, Cobb EMC completed its innovative campus microgrid project, incorporating various sustainable technologies. This includes the installation of 1.5 MW AC of solar PV, a 1 MW/4 MWh battery energy storage system, a 1 MW natural gas generator, and a solar canopy for EV charging. Cobb EMC announced its ambitious clean energy goals, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 75% and doubling up on the renewable energy portfolio with a 200% increase, all by 2030.

Those who attend this tour will get a close look at all the components that make up Cobb EMC’s campus microgrid, including the battery energy storage facility, also known as the battery barn.
