Ellery Blood, Ph.D. is a Principal Engineer at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) specializing in power system control, visualization, and analytics. He holds degrees in Electrical Engineer (PhD & MS, Carnegie Mellon), Mechanical Engineering (MS, Naval Postgraduate School) and Computer & Systems Engineering (BS, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). He presently holds 14 patents related to the electric power industry. Ellery has 23 years of commissioned service in the US Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander. He is a Senior member of the IEEE and a member on multiple Power Systems Relaying Committee working groups. His present focus is on event record analysis software and microgrid optimal control.
