No portion of the power grid has been impacted more by grid modernization than the electric distribution system. Growing penetrations of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) coupled with customer demands for high reliability and power quality are mandating changes to the basic business processes that have served the industry well for decades. Many utilities are transitioning from manual, paper-driven business processes that have existed for many years to electronic, computer-assisted decision-making with a high degree of automation. The Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is at the heart of this transformation.
This Learning Lab will focus on the fundamental components of ADMS, encompassing SCADA, advanced distribution applications, DER management, and outage management. It will also cover the major interfaces of ADMS, such as GIS, AMI, and EMS. By attending this course, attendees will gain the necessary knowledge to plan, integrate, and implement these systems effectively at their utility. During the course, speakers with real-world experience will share insights into actual ADMS implementations. They will discuss major challenges encountered and offer solutions, as well as share valuable lessons learned throughout the implementation process. Ample time will be allotted for questions and answers between the speakers and attendees during each electric utility presentation. This course is specifically designed for operators, engineers, and managers involved in the operation, design, and optimization of electric distribution systems. It will be particularly beneficial for electric distribution companies that are considering implementing an ADMS in the near future.
